- New traffic lights with turn lights going on at several intersections in next month to two months
- Reimagine West Howard
- Goals: Slow down traffic, reducing lanes
- 2 communities meetings so far
- Should see a final plan/sketch in next month
- Purchase of Methodist Children’s Home
- 22 of 77 acres will be permanent greenspace
- 1% interest loan secured by the City for the purchase
- Other 55 acres: Community input and planning sessions will commence in early next year
- See Click Fix app for problems/issues you see around the city that need fixing
- Lot at Mead & College Ave: Church is still looking to sell property. No project at this time
Jennifer Ross, Police Update
- Review of UCR Analysis
- Implementing new technology to fight crime, but delay in implementation b/c crime is so low. Helps direct officers to hot spots.
- Theft: Biggest problem is entering autos. About 1/3 of thefts – most are not secured cars. Biggest problem right now is at Feld/Cambridge/Mead
- If you see a crime in progress – Call police immediately. Please don’t yell/draw attention to yourself. Provide as much info as you can to police.
- Citizens police academy – Thursday nights for 10 weeks
- Learn how policing works
- Meet the officers
- Smart 911 – Register if you haven’t yet
- Upcoming Jr Police Academy 11-14 yos, free camp during fall break
- Reved up Kids: Free 1 Hour presentation about keeping kids safe
- Kids Self Defense
